Taipei, Taiwan, Dec. 22, 2021 The 2020/21 Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards made a perfect ending this year with a virtual Gala Award Ceremony on December 15th hosted by PIKOM (The National Tech Association of Malaysia). The Taiwan delegation had 4 winner awards and 15 merit awards in total, ranking first among all member economies in APICTA.

APICTA Awards is the leading awards program in the ICT field in the Asia Pacific region that provides opportunities for individuals and companies to gain local, regional, and international exposure. This year, Malaysia served as the host economy and held the event in a completely virtual format. In total there are 15 economies’ delegations with 260 companies and student teams participating. With the support of Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), Taipei Computer Association (TCA) was appointed along with industry and academic experts to lead the Taiwan delegation of 28 corporate teams and 7 student teams for the international competition. The delegation took home 4 winner and 15 merit awards, setting the best record in Taiwan’s participation in the competition since 2013 and securing the first place among all member economies with a total of 19 awards.

The 4 winner awards were won by Poweranch inc. (宇能科技) in Marketplaces under Consumer category, DoQubiz Technology Co.Ltd. (奕智鏈結) in Security Solutions and Turing Chain Ltd. (圖靈鏈) in Marketing & Professional Services under the Business Services category and National Central University (中央大學) in the category of Tertiary Student – Consumer & Community. The 15 merit awards are from MIND & IDEA FLY CO., LTD (米菲多媒體); BaaSid International Lab CO., LTD. (Taiwan) (博斯資訊安全); I.X (大宏數創意); Brain Navi Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (鈦隼生物科技); airabbi Inc. (瑞比智慧); Memorence AI LTD. (憶象科技); Hyson Technology Inc. (海盛科技); Institute for Information Industry (資策會數位轉型研究所); Enosim Bio-tech Co., Ltd. (世創生物科技); Cuddle Science Education International (科豆國際教育機構); and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (陽明交通大學) . Brain Navi Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (鈦隼生物科技)’s “Zero Contact Medical Station, the Holistic Solution & New Gold Standard of Specimen Collection“ won two merits in Health & Wellbeing under 2 different categories: Inclusion category and Research & Development category. The Zero-Contact Medical Station is a successful integration of computer vision and navigation robotic arm to achieve zero-contact nasal swabbing and pipetting tasks for lab technicians that decreases the risks of mutual infection between medical staff & patients amid the ongoing pandemic and earned great recognition by the international judges. Hyson Technology Inc. (海盛科技)’s “FarmABetterFish AIoT Aquaculture Management System” received two merits in the category of Industrial – General and Technology – AI, using embedded AI computing and IoT technologies together with on-site operational equipment to do sampling, measuring, recording, and statistical tracking of fish growth on mobile devices for fishermen to manage stock as well as scale up production with lower risk. This visible, measurable and controllable total aquaculture solution also gained much positive acknowledgment among international judges.

Being the best support to the ICT industry in Taiwan, the Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) appointed TCA to join APICTA and recommended executive committees to strive for business opportunities and cross-border industrial exchange in the Asia-Pacific region for Taiwanese enterprises since 2012. Each year, TCA invites and recommends leading industry and academia representatives from Taiwan to serve as international judges for the annual award program and Professor C.K. Farn (范錚強) from National Central University (中央大學) was appointed as one of the advisory judges by the International Executive Committee from APICTA. Professor Farn not only entered the most credible decision-making platform in the APICTA Awards program but also assisted in training the Taiwan delegation before the competition; offering valuable and constructive recommendations to the participating teams from industry and academic perspectives.

APICTA’s 16 member economies include the major markets in the Asia-Pacific region. Participants of the APICTA Awards will gain extensive understanding of the market as well as technical level of their fellow members. Members will be able to build cooperation opportunities through interactions and exchanges with other national teams as well as the international judges. Moreover, the winner and merit teams will also gain coverage in the Asia-Pacific region that can help seize business opportunities in their target markets. For example, Soteria Biotech (太暘生物科技), the winner of the health & wellbeing category in 2017 was able to connect with the Thai judges after the competition. Together they successfully conducted a medical research project at the Mahidol University Hospital, the second largest hospital in Thailand, and received a collaboration project worth of NTD 6 million dollars.

About APICTA Awards Program

APICTA (Asia Pacific ICT Alliance) was founded in Malaysia in 1999 and is now the most influential association of ICT communities in the Asia-Pacific region. The member economies include Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. The 16 member economies cover the fastest growing regions in terms of GNP (Gross National Product) & population size worldwide and are the key markets for Taiwanese companies to grow and expand their business.

Enterprises participating the annual awards program will receive not only recognition from ICT experts of the member economies, but also earn a fast pass to obtain cross-border collaboration and opportunities to win tender projects and venture capital investment. This helps bring positive benefits for participant with less cross-border marketing resources.
